It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives - three days on Henry Island at an exclusive house party. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their own reasons for wanting to be there, which involve their school's most eligible bachelor, T.J. Fletcher, and look forward to three glorious days of boys, bonding, and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly, people are dying, and with a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the rest of the world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn't scheduled to return for three days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

My thoughts:

 I never expected this book to turn out the way it did. I expected it to be the usual thriller - that maybe I would end up guessing who the killer is before it's revealed. Or at least that I don't guess but it won't be that great of a read. That's what these books usually turn out to be like for me. I'm not really into thrillers. But, boy, was I wrong! I'm so glad I was too!

 

 

I started this book this in the morning straight after waking up. I finished it two hours after.

 

 

It was honestly one of the most suspenseful reads I have ever read and it's for that very reason that it has to go on my all time favourites list. Everything about it is just what a good read should be. I can't praise it enough.

 

 

The characters were so brilliantly written it takes my breath away. After finishing the book I realised that if they weren't - if a single character seemed out of place because of the tiniest detail - this book would not have worked in the slightest. I can only imagine how much thought went into each and every single person and it really did show by the end of the book. Every one of them had a place to be every moment of the book and a unique personality trait that made me second guess them all the time. It was set up perfectly.

 

 

Plot wise, you can't really get more intense. Everything was leading up to what happens in the end, making me want to get there that little bit faster. Everything seemed to build up on top of all the characters shoulders as soon as anything happened and I could read it in how the characters acted and eventually started to turn on each other. 

 

 

Gretchen McNeil is a brilliant writer if this book is anything to go by. She kept up the suspense the whole way through - before anything even happened there was an atmosphere there that had me constantly on edge. That, as well as the characters and plot, made this to be a really fantastic read.
