Dead Girls' Dance Review

Summary:
Good news, girls: your dates are here!

Claire Danvers has had her fair share of challenges - like being a genius in a school that favours beauty over brains, dealing with the homicidal girls in her dorm and, above all, finding out that her college town is overrun with blood-sucking fiends.

On the plus side, so far Claire and her friends have managed to survive getting on the wrong side of some Morganville VIPs...Vampire Important Persons. But their temporary peace is in danger of collapsing, thanks to the arrival of her new boyfriend's scary father and his vampire-fighting supporters.

Bad news, girls: they're dead.

Dead Girls' Dance is the second book in the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. The book starts off right where Glass Houses ended; delving, head-first straight into some fast-paced action.

There were a few moments in this books that got me a little frustrated with how unrealistic they were. For example, at one point Claire gets drugged and is nearly raped by some college boys. After being rescued the boys explain to Claire that Monica (an enemy of Claire's) put them up to it. Claire decides she won't press charges because apparently, Monica told the boys Claire would be willing. Erm, okay? Since when was attempted rape ever acceptable? I would have liked to have read on to either Shane or a big-bad vampire beating them up afterwards or something of the like.

Apart from moments like this, Dead Girls' Dance was an action-packed book with drama, romance, and teenage more teenage issues by the bucket load.

I didn't love the book as much as Glass Houses but I didn't hate it either. It's still a must read in my opinion as it seems to set the scene for the next book in the series which I'm really looking forward to reading.

Rating: 7/10

I love the cover! I haven't read the books yet, but they do look good.

I agree that it seems implausible for Claire to not press charges. Kind of gives the wrong message too, but maybe it's explained later on?

Good review!

This is a fantastic series. Glad to see you're enjoying them. I found the not pressing charges thing a little unrealistic too. But apart from that it's really good.
